| I'm sorry but I just can't agree. Soifon is how it sounds, Soifon is what I use. But I am a hypocrite. I hate it when it's spelled Soi-Fong. | |

| The thing you have to remember is that it's not a Japaneses name, and therefore not subject to Japaneses pronunciation. Sui-Feng is the romanization of a Chinese name, and in Chineses, Sui-Feng is pronounced "Soifon." | |

| I realize that. I'm not trying to change your views to mine. I only ask that you not change mine to yours. | |

| so, for those that are going to use "Sui-Feng", do you have to keep the dash in the middle? I find it kinda annoying, but I do know of names that have one | |

| Soi Fon - I "grew up" with Soi Fong, then it was Soi Fon and now Sui Feng? I'll rather die than ever calling her Sui Feng - no matter if it's right or not. For me it doesn't feel right so yeah -> YoruSoi all the way | |

| Yeah, that reminds me that Bleach is celebrating ten years, and there are some people who actually started reading it that long ago. It must be tough to deal with a name change after ten years of something different. | |

| Well yeah - I started watching Bleach as the... 18ths ep or so aired in japan and they always changed Sois name. I'll settle with Soi Fon (took me long enough to write Fon instead of Fong) and Sui Feng sounds totally fail to me, sorry.

| Seeing how the last post was over 2 years ago... has anyone gotten used to using Sui-Feng when previously preferring Soi Fon?
Some random thoughts when I saw this thread. . .
I don't know if it has ever been pointed out, but Sui-Feng in Chinese is pronounced as "Su-i Fern-g" with a rather harsh stress on "Sui". Also, 砕 looks like it comes from the Chinese character 碎 which literally means "crushed". Sui-Feng's name is actually pretty harsh (Crushed Bee) in the way it sounds and means in Chinese.
No idea why it's written as So-i Fo-n in hiragana, perhaps it's pronounced this way because of the subtle differences between the Japanese character and the Chinese character ^^" But if Kubo is making her Chinese, I wonder why her name is pronounced the Japanese way.

| I got used to using Sui-Feng. But I still use Soifon or Soi Fon when I tag her on tumblr because other people still do. Also, dashes don't work in tags. | |
