So apprently there was a Bleach game released on the PS3 in Japan that's getting brought over here courtesy of NIS. Here's a preview as well as a trailer, but the short of it is that it's Dynasty Warriors: Bleach.
Is anyone even remotely interested in this? As far as the gameplay is concerned, I haven't played a Dynasty Warrior-esuqe game since Dynasty Warriors 4, so I may have detoxed long enough to enjoy them again, but the fact that the game seems to just be a game version of HM and FKT is really off putting. The best thing about The 3rd Phantom was it's (non-canonical) story.
Either way, I'm sure as fuck not paying $60 for it.

I'm probably going to get it too.
I've played the demo and it was... well... admittedly it wasn't all that good, certainly on a technical level at least. But I still found it oddly enjoyable and I guess that's what really counts.

It amuses me because it looks like it may have spoilers for the American audience (if they aren't reading the Japanese Bleach, anyway). I definitely saw Ulquiorra in there with his weapon, which they haven't shown yet in the American manga (they're not at the lust arc yet).
I've only played Dynasty Warriors once, so I'm not really burned out on that style of play.
I'm pretty sure I'll get it just for the eyecandy if nothing else.
I just really enjoy being able to play as my favorite Bleach characters and it looks like you can play as Ishida and Rukia, too.

It's the fact that it looks to just be HM and FKT what I find the most unappealing, really. If it had been something new entirely, or perhaps even just a retelling of the entire series I would have been more on board. But FKT is still fresh in my head and I didn't bother reading HM for a reason.
Plus there's no Lu Bu.

I wish I still owned Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme. That was such a fun game. But I'm surely not going to get this.

I think - though I could be making this up - that it also follows the 4th movie. The demo I played had Ichigo in his movie costume (the skeleton thing) and fighting what I assume was the bad guy from it. I also may be making this up, but I'm sure I heard that it follows a slightly alternitve take on HM and FKT.

I seen vids of Ichigo in his 4th movie costume, so I think the 4th movie parts are in it also.

Yeah, I seem to remember seeing footage of Ichigo in hell too. I'll still wait for you guys to give me a vertic first. If it's an alternate take on HM and FKT, I'm more interested, and if I can play as Tessai it's a day one purchase.

The opening has peen posted. It appears to be little more than a hodgepodge of anime scenes strung together in a semi-coherent fashion set to the song that was used in the Deicide openings, so prepare to be disappointed if you were expecting something original.
Dear god, I just realized something. You're going to have to play Deicide.

There's a video now that also shows everyone's special attacks. Yoruichi and Sui-Feng are one right after another. It looks so cool.

I'm really suprised by the amount of mainstream coverage this game is getting. Traditionally, Dynasty Warriors-esq games are usually pretty much ignored, and the ones inspired by animes are usually ignored harder. At least on the sites I frequent.
The first(?) review is in and it is less than kind. I can't say that I'm supprised, but the stuff about the story mode is really disheartening. I'll wait for Jim Sterling's (likely) review, as he has a history of liking this style of game. If we're (I'm) lucky, Giantbomb will do a QuickLook. Hell, they did Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, why not this?

IGN gave it a pretty decent score. It comes out today so I will let you know.
Still, it's those complaints about the story. I'll wait for your word, but I have no desire to hack through hordes of hollows just for the sake of it. I want more of a payoff than just seeing the next part of a story I already know. That's why I have so much good will for The 3rd Phantom.

The story is just a rehash of what we've already seen. I think it would only be spoilerish to people in the US who don't keep up with the Japanese Bleach. So far it goes to the fights against the top 3 Espada, which I know the US isn't up to because they just started the TBtP arc and those fights take place after that. Plus, the stuff with Yoruichi and Aizen in FKT is past that as well.
If I happen to see something interesting, though, I'll let you know.
Also, some crappy pics from my cellphone:

These games should really take a cue from the Tales series and have use something similar to the Linear system. Straight lines allow for more complex inputs that involve directions.
I'm really impressed by the look of the game though. They obviously but alot of time and money into making it look good.

Picked up the game myself and while the graphics does look good, the story itself could use some improvements. I was hoping for something fresh but I'm still hoping for some surprises.
To be honest CaptainYoruichi your pictures hanging up on your wall has my interest more than this game at the moment.

Oh, that's my Yoruichi shrine in the background, with a random Firefly thing there. And a tag from a shark beach towel that I bought.
The story mode has no surprises, but it's fun to play as the characters. Yoruichi is a lot of fun to use. She's my most leveled character out of all of them.

Hehehe... I was wondering what that thing was in the left corner of that picture frame. The Yoruichi pictures and the Flyfly thing was easy to pick out.
As for the game, its okay and I like playing the characters but why did they recycle a story we already know about.
