| ok, I honestly don't think I've put this in the right section, so please feel free to tell me where I should put it (politely, of course), but yes, here goes. I am curious as to what has happened in life to help you understand Yoruichi and Soi's relationship, or aspects of it. Here's my example: - Spoiler:
Ok, so, in my second job, there's two cooks, I'll give them names... lemme see... Simon and Peter. Ok, so, Simon is Head Chef, Peter is Junior Chef. On Thursday, I was called in to work suddenly because Simon disappeared halfway through service. No one knew the reason, only Peter was there, but he didn't say anything. And all that was going through my mind was "Why did he go? What was the reason? Why didn't he tell us? Is he hurt? Maybe something happened to his family? Why didn't he tell us why he left!?" and I kind of felt angry. Did he think it wasn't worth telling us? Telling me? Did he get fed up with me? Did I do something? Is he ever coming back? Why did he leave? It was so confusing, and no-one would say anything, whether they knew or not. Suddenly it was a taboo subject. But I still didn't have the answers I wanted.
But then: - Spoiler:
He came back. Yesterday, as I was coming into work, I saw him there talking to my boss, and a group of people that I didn't recognise. After that, he was in the kitchen, but without uniform. Everywhere was tense. The waitresses, the kitchenstaff, the boss and his wife, nobody wanted to say anything, but at the same time, those of us of the loop were dying to ask him. I had to go to pick up stock, and when I came back, he was in uniform and functioning like he never left, which kind of annoyed me. I mean, you still haven't told us why you just disappeared, and now suddenly, you're back like nothing happened. It doesn't work that way, man! But towards the end of service, when the kitchen was quiet, he pulled me aside and told me that it was because he was sick of being used. The boss would make him do all the work, but only pay for some of it. Finally, I knew why he left! The feeling afterwards was way better. I knew his reasons, I knew why he left, and even though Peter and him are planning to quit soon, now I know the story, and it's way more of a relief.
So my point is, this event kind of helped me understand Soi's point of view. I mean, when you don't know why someone important to you (romantically or platonically) has gone, especially so suddenly, it leaves your imagination open to every possibility, and that makes you feel way more insecure about them, yourself, and where you stand in life/work/school/wherever. But the effect that knowledge has cannot be underestimated. It's the reassurance that 1) it's not your fault, 2) they're ok, not dying, 3) they trust you enough to tell you. So, has anyone else had something similar happen to them? | |

| Not really something like that. But I can understand Sui-Feng being kind of jealous of Kisuke having things that he did with Yoruichi that she couldn't (or didn't) do with Yoruichi. My gf's new best friend a couple years ago played D&D with her and I felt left out. Eventually I decided to play so that I could be included. I'll try to think of something that may be more similar, though. | |
