Tuesday's (8/17/2010) Maintenance Change-log

Me and CaptainYoruichi created this site on an impulse. We were unhappy with the way the Moderators (Azley excluded) over at BleachAsylum were treating the YoruSoi FC. Because this place was created basically on a whim, we've been flying by the seat of our pants, so to speak. We haven't really planned out much for this forum, and that short-sightedness has caused us some problems. The changes detailed below are designed to help transition Team YoruSoi for long-term use and alleviate issues caused by an overall lack of clarity.

• The Character Fan Club on the Bleach section has been changed to a General Fan Club and now includes pairing FCs as well as FCs for individual characters.
  
• A "Writer's Area" has been added to the General section as a place for aspiring authors to post works not related to Yoruichi or Soifon.
  
• A "Debate" board has been added to the General section.
  
• The old "Rant" and "Happy" threads have been locked and replaced with new "Rant" and "Happy" threads with clear rules of conduct.
  
• The "Life and Such" thread has been locked and replaced with the “Condolences, Support, and Advice” thread.
  

The overall biggest change is the Tar Pit. The Tar Pit was originally created as an answer to many features we didn't originally want to support, but didn't want to completely exclude either. In the beginning, we did not want to support Bleach FCs, but as time passed we eventually deiced to include them, so the next logical step was to include the rest of the originally undesired features, most notably debate.

The reason for this change again goes back to thinking long term. Having a completely unmoderated board is just asking for trouble, so we wanted to eliminate that risk. Now, the Tar Pit is a (lightly) moderated board for spammy and otherwise unclassifiable threads, as well as doubling as the final resting place for locked threads that aren't finished RP chapters. Because of this drastic change, several threads have been moved;

• "The Thread of Complete Randomness" has been moved to the Tar Pit.
  
• The threads "Overreaction?" and "Do people really think like this?" have been moved to the Debate board.
  
• "I need a guy's point of view" and "Who here has a Gaia account" have been moved to the Social board.
  
• The locked threads "Life and Such," "The (original) Happy Thread," and "The (original) Rant Thread" have been moved to the Tar Pit.
  

Of course, the Rules have been updated to reflect the changes. We hope that theses changes help things move more smoothly and help facilitate the growth of this forum.

Mmm, the Writer's Area sounds interesting. The rest of the changes sound good as well. I hope we take well to the changes and things flow more smoothly from now on. Thanks for the techno rave party.

Especially now that the Tar Pit is moderated and we have more defined rules.
