| So CaptainYoruichi made a favorite characters topic. I felt it was only fair to make a topic for people to rant about their least favorites.
Mine are pretty simple. Any of the human characters I hate. That's right. Ichigo, Orihime, Uryu, Chad, and all their little friends whose names escape me right now. Can't stand them.

| Hm good question - I really hate Byakuya (there I said it...), many unimportant filler chars like Lurichiyo, the bountos and such and a few more I can't remember right now ~ | |

| My least favorite character is Momo. She actually would have been one of my favorites had she died in the SS arc, but she's just survived, and her beautiful tragic character arc has pretty much been destroyed by it. However, she did give me a wonderful moment of schadenfreude. | |

| Aizen and Szayel. Aizen's too perfect, and Szayel should have lost to Ishida. | |

However, she did give me a wonderful moment of schadenfreude. This! Momo had such a tragic character arc, and her being killed was best end for it. Kubo's oddball decision to keep her alive has completely ruined her. She doesn't have a place in the story anymore. Apart from her I dislike Chad. Well, I'm more indifferent to him. He has no character, his design is lame and he does nothing exceot eat dirt. Honestly, he could be replaced with a tree in most panels and I doubt anyone would notice. And I really don't like Aizen. He had to be the most boring bad guy ever!

| Being the fantasy racist that I am, all the shinigami are on my least favorite charactrs list. XD If I were forced to name specifics, I suppose Aizen, Gin, and Urahara would be my least least favorite. the first for being a flat and uninspired plot device, and the latter two for being annoying fanboy darlings. | |

| Dondochaka (I won't even bother searching for the right way to spell this). Ichigo annoys me when alone, but I like him when he's interacting with Rukia. | |

| I can't stand Byakuya, Orihime, Tousen, and Momo. Tousen just sucked, as did Momo after SS. Orihime is absolutely ridiculous, wouldn't be as bad if she didn't get powers. I'm sick of the whole bishonen Byakuya, he really isn't that cool. | |

| Totally agreed with you, Fatalicious. I wonder what did byakuya ever do to get all that hype? I'm not going to bash or so - I just want to understand it - he isn't that overly attracting (at least not in my PoV), the powers are nothing special. So maybe to cold attitude? | |

| To be completely honest, I don't like Yoruichi. ^^; Something about her irritates me; not quite sure what it is.
Of course, I really don't like any characters in Bleach -- other than Soi Fong. I really adore Soi. :/
On the list of characters I especially hate are Ichigo, Rukia and Orihime. But especially Ichigo. :'D

| Thought I'll post something here. I love to rant Hated characters... 1. Kurosaki Ichigo (Damn, he should stop getting stronger and die) 2. Kuchiki Rukia ('Onii-sama' again and I'll personally kill her) 3. Inoue Orihime (Ever heard of perfect Mary Sues?) 4. Uryuu Ishida 5. Sado 'Chad' Yasutora 6. All the frickin' humans whom I'm too lazy to name. 7. Yamamoto Shigekuni Genryuusai (Time for him to step down, no? And he looks ugly, and he throws away lives needlessly) 8. 4th Division Members, esp. Unohana Retsu (Dunno why. I just have something against them, though not as much as before. I actually like Unohana now...Fanfic's fault) 9. Hinamori Momo (Need I explain more?) 10. Kurosaki Karin 11. All Kurosakis. 12. Aizen Sousuke (Time for him to step down as the villain, no?) 13. Tousen Kaname (I HATE HIM. Period.) Others, I'm either neutral or like. Most are neutral, though. It's hard for me to actually start liking a character and maintain that feeling. Espadas are lovely, Vizards are the best, and being a Shinigami is my dream occupation, after being an Auror ^^ | |

| For me its Momo, Orihime, and Tousen. I never really felt...... connected to any of them as I did to the other characters. And all of you covered the reason I dislike Momo. And Orihime, its just that if she stayed home or didn't gain those powers, Aizen might not of had such an advantage as he does now.
And for some reason I just never liked Tousen :P .

| I never realy hated any character. Like i said before im to lazy to "hate". But the ones i dislike the most are probably the "Chubby" guy from the Vizards (cant be asked to remember his name) and Love also from the Vizards. They seem boring and with out a true place in the story. Im also not a big fan of Ichigo being affected by "Goku" Syndrome. When is he gonna stop going over 9000!!!!!? | |

(I know this post was posted over a year ago so there is little chance you will answer but) How do you tolerate shipping Yorusoi? As for me, I am more indifferent to a majority of the cast. I don't like Ggio Vega due to people crack shipping him with Soi, nor do I like that shinigami with the weird eyebrows that's obsessed with Soifon. Even though it wasn't his doing, that panel in the Bootleg where the holographic Soi flashes him was horrible. Yes, I am militaristic and protective over a fictional character, what of it?

Really? I found that omake amusing, at least. Anyway, I really hate the way Slickback is drawn. His constant exaggerated sneer is really annoying. I know it's supposed to be menacing, but it looks really stupid.

| Ah, I guess I should admit I hate a large part of the cast. Pretty much just the Shinigami from Sieretei (I know I spelled that wrong) are the only ones I like, and I still dislike some of them. | |

| I dislike Ichigo as a character, although i had an interesting discussion with a fellow fanboy i met here in Japan, where he essentially said that Ichigo is a weak character similar to how Link from Legend of Zelda, or more similarly, how Vaan from Final Fantasy XII was a weak character (also similar to Bella from Twilight), in that they are meant to have only the most basic motivations and be reasonably good at everything merely as means to drive the plot. Essentially, my friend maintained that Ichigo is "meant" to be a weak character, so that the reader can essentially project themselves onto him and better enjoy all of the stuff going on around him, with characters that are meant to be more interesting.
Ichigo works his best as a straight-man for interacting with more off-the-wall characters, like when he was training with Yoruichi or when he deals with some of Orihime's stranger flights of fancy
I'm not sure if I accept that definition, but i'll leave it at the fact that I have my problems with Ichigo as a character.
My problems with any one character more stem to problems with how Kubo used the character than problems with the character themselves. Ichigo is the only inherently weak character, everyone else that could be considered a bad character was merely weakened by something that occurred to them. (the rants about Momo in this thread being a perfect example: good character as designed, but made worthless because of what happened to her)

Eh, I'm not sure I buy that either. At the very least, the specific examples aren't accurate. Link is a "weak" character because he's a hold over from the NES days where the majority of the story was told in the instruction manual and Nintendo ardently refuses to develop and of their core franchise characters (except for Samus, and we all saw how that went). And even then, hearsay is that the latest Zelda game actual goes a way in humanizing him (and Zelda). He's not weak by narrative design. Vaan is the same as Luke from Star Wars or any other fish-out-of-water; he's there as a vehicle to explain the world in the most painless way possible. It's an old tool but it works. Had, say, FFXII had a similar device the story might not have been such a jumbled mess on incomprehensible bullshit. That is something that he shares with Ichigo. Ichigo's failing as a character is that he hasn't really advanced much beyond "My mom died so I want to protect people." He has a definite traits and characteristics (unlike Bella, who is the blankest of slates), it's just that they've remained extremely static. The needle may twitch to the left or right, but he's still basically the same guy he was when we found out about how his Mom died. Not even wiser from his experiences, as the latest arc showed. He did kill a guy though, so there's that I guess.

He did kill a guy though, so there's that I guess. The lack of growth definitely doesn't help. He hasn't really learned any lessons or anything (though that goes for a great many of the characters, who keep making the same mistakes), whereas in, for example, Naruto, you get a good deal of personal growth in worldview and such (even as his personality remains fundamentally the same), but i think part of the issue also is that everyone loves him and that he's good at everything he does (which does lean him back in the Bella direction, except that there is at least a clear struggle on Ichigo's part to survive and win) A very legitimate question to pose is: who dislikes Ichigo, or is even just ambivalent towards him? The closest i could get would probably be Yamamoto and a few of the captains that he rarely interacts with (like Soi or Komamura) I've been debating whether to categorize him as a Gary Stu, actually.

| I think Ichigo gets an ass-whooping far too often to be classified as a Gary Stu. The only times he trained were triggered by life-or-death situations. First Rukia, then the Hollow thing, then well, the whole Aizen thing. The only reason he keeps winning is a phenomenally strong will to protect, and don't underestimate willpower. Hell, it keeps mortally wounded people alive for far longer than they should in the real world. | |

The fact that he get's the shit kicked out of hims so much and yet still continues to win his fights is exactly why he's potentially a Gary Stu. He's won very few fights past the SS arc on his own merits. There's always been some sort of Deus Ex Machina that comes into play so he can beat the consistently stronger enemies that he's paired off against, the most obvious and egregious being his second Hollow form. Kubo made Uliquiorra too strong so he had to think of an out for Ichigo because he's the hero and he needed to win, now.And that's kind of the way it's been since the SS arc. You can really feel the author's hand in Ichigo's fights because no matter who he's fighting, he has to win.

| I thought the classification of Gary Stu (and by extension Mary Sue) went to characters who learn things too quickly, too easily, and consistently have no problems in anything. | |

The term Gary/Mary Stu/Sue has been abused to the point that it kind of has just become a catch-all insult. It means whatever it needs to.
