So what is your favorite theory as to why Yoruichi didn't take Soifon with her?

Mine:

I think Yoruichi just didn't have time to take Soifon. She already had to transport 10 other people (8 Vizards, Tessai, and Kisuke). But I think she left Soifon out of the loop in general to protect her.

I don't think time was a problem - technically there was enough to get her - especially because Yoruichi can move extremly fast but my theory is that she saw the potential and future Soi had and didn't wanted to destroy her life. What would she have achieved if she followed Yoruichi?
Not fighting-wise but socially?
I think Youruichi didn't dare to "decide" for her and change her life so drastically.

And asking Soi wether she wants to conme along or not wouldn't be a good idea because Soi would've followed her - no matter the consequences and I think Yoruichi knew that.

At first, I was if the mind that event transpired so fast that Yoruichi ddn't have time to get involved, but I don't think that's the case now.

Now, I'm all on board the guilt train.

Yoruichi's failure to curb Urahara's enthusiams resulted in 11 lives being uprooted, she probably didn't have it in her to make it twelve. Besides, she most likely knew that Soifon was going to replace her in her absence, so she would logically want someone she could trust filling her shoes. She probably didn't anticipate the emotional damage she would be doing, though.

The question as why she didn't tell her is easily awnsered; If Soifon knew what was up, she would have gotten invloved. Period. Even without Yoruichi's consent. Yoruichi might have also felt that Soifon wasn't ready to handel a situation such as the one she was in.

My first impression about this was that she didn't have time to take Soifon along. But thinking better about it, even if there hadn't been much time, she would have taken Soifon along if she had a reason to. Anyway you look at their relationship, the fundamental fact is that Yoruichi was the onmitsukido commander, and Soifon a soldier in the onmitsukido. Yoruichi couldn't just take her into exile and make her "betray" Soul Society and abandon the onmitsukido without a good reason to do it. Add to that the fact that Soifon seemed to be very young at the time, and it would have been really irresponsible of Yoruichi to do something like that, no matter how much she would have liked her company. It would have been different if she thought staying would be worse for Soifon, but Yoruichi herself probably didn't want to leave in the first place.

Of course, it comes down to the fact that she did what was best for Soifon's future, and all the rest, but I think that given the short time and amount of danger she was in for such profound reflections, the final reason would be really common sense.

Idk really how I feel any more about the "Why didn't you take me with you?!" I use to think it was the time thing then maybe she wanted what was best for her and even the rather the one you love live hating you then they die loving you or something along those lines but also I alittle feel after reading over some parts was maybe she didn't care in taking her or not (aweful to say but reading a few parts they don't talk about her or anything really and in the one part where Yoruichi seemed like she didn't want to go yet it seemed she'd be mad if Kisuke didn't take her along too inless I was reading the part wrong)

That's another good point: We don't know the extent of their relationship a century ago either.

They were obviously close. Close enough that Yoruichi felt comfortable playing around with her and teasing her. But, for the most part, their relationship seems to be that of a Superior and Subordinate. Yoruichi could have though Soifon was just indoctrinated to treat her like she did, and the last thing you need in a crisis situation is a sycophant.

Yoruichi probably didn't realize the depth of Soifon's feelings until she returned the Seireitei and they had their reunion. And she probably didn't even realize her own feelings until Soifon wasn't around anymore.

I think when you really get down to it, though, Yoruichi wasn't in a position to think about what she wanted. Asking Soifon to come with her would have been extremely selfish of her. It would have just been wrong of her to ask Soifon to abandon her life and become a criminal just because she would miss her.

Another rason Yoruichi probably didn't take Soifon with her is because she thought she would be a powerful ally. Yoruichi obviously didn't anticipate Soifon violently hating her for leaving so suddenly. YOruichi most likely though that SOifon would know something was wrong because of the sudden departure. She probably also thought that Soifon would be the one to replace her. Yoruichi probably thought that when Soifon gained the captaincy, she would start investigating the reason behind her “betrayal”, not training to kill her.

just like most everyone else had said, i also thought it was because of time. but then yoruichi hinted that she had known about urahara's plight for a while. so she had a lot of time to confide in her subordinate about the situation. now im more likely to believe that soifon just did not cross her mind at the time. soifon was just a kid, a dispensable soldier, a student. and yoruichi had more pressing matters to attend to.

not to mention that soifon was (and still is) a loyal servant to the gotei 13. if yoruichi had told her anything, soifon would have insisted on the more conventional action of reporting to authorities (as shown by her protesting against urahara entering the maggot's nest), while yoruichi likes to go the long way of becoming an exile and waiting 100 years before aizen finally makes his move and there's no going back...

i also dont want to believe that yoruichi and soifon were all that close 100 years ago. i think i prefer a one-sided love, and then yoruichi progressively reciprocating soifon's feelings after her return. if yoruichi had at all returned soifon's feelings then she undoubtedly would have brought soifon along. love is that selfish.
