| Mortal Coils is the first in a series of books by Eric Nylund. I originally started reading it because Nylund has written some really awesome books for the Halo franchise. I wanted to see what he would do with original characters and his own universe. It's even better than I expected. Here's the back of the book summary: - Quote :
- Nothing exciting ever happened to fifteen-year-old orphans Eliot and Fiona, who are trapped in the strict, oppressive household of their grandmother. A chance visit, however, reveals that the twins are the offspring of a goddess and Lucifer, Prince of Darkness.
To settle the epic custody battle between these two families, the fallen angels create three diabolical temptations, and the gods fashion three heroic trials to test Eliot and Fiona. The twins need to quickly learn how to use their budding supernatural abilities...for the family allegiances are ever-shifting in the ancient, secret world they have entered, and only by sticking together will they be able to survive! The second book in the series is supposed to come out in June, and I am excited.

| I never heard of the author or books tbh. Sounds a little like Percy jackson to me (cqause of the god / child stuff).
Doesn't sound bad but I'm not really into books where people have supernatural powers or such and as much as I like angels, gods or myth in general for some reason I don't like it in books.
What else has the author made?

| I think it's more mature than Percy Jackson. I want to say it's probably better, but I'll wait until more books come out before I decide for sure.
Here are some of the other books Eric Nylund has written, though. Pawn's Dream A Game of Universe Dry Water Signal to Noise A Signal Shattered
And of course the Halo novels I mentioned earlier: Halo: Fall of Reach Halo: First Strike Halo: Ghosts of Onyx

| I didn't mean it in terms of writing but because the theme seems similar ~
Hm don't know any of the other books but I've read the first HALO book.
I never liked game / book adaptions but HALO wasn't that bad (at least not as bad as the Diablo books...)
