Yep! I'm ready for the midnight release. I'm not so much of a fan that I got the legendary reserved, but I did get the limited edition.

Saw it on this years gamescom and well...not too thrilled about it.

So Reach came out and I've had time to play it.

The campaign is pretty awesome. I'm playing by myself on Heroic so it's a little aggravating at times, but for the most part it's pretty enjoyable. It uses the skulls from Halo 3 so there's no need to skull hunt (which I kind of miss).

The new weapons are pretty cool. At first I didn't like the new battle rifle, but it grew on me. And I like that you can carry more ammo for the sniper rifle now, although it still only loads four bullets at once.

I like the armor abilities, although for the most part I find them more useful in multiplayer than in the campaign.

Speaking of multiplayer, Reach once again reminds me why I prefer campaign to multiplayer: everyone knows the maps and game types way better than I do. Also, I suck, pretty much. Sweat

I do like Headhunter and Invasion game types, though. Invasion is more fun when you're an Elite but still pretty neat overall.

I'll wait until I finish it for a full review, but so far I'd say the campaign is 10/10 and the multiplayer is probably about 7/10.

I haven't had time to do campaign yet, but I did multiplayer Firefight on Legendary, and got my ass appropriately pwned at times.

I just beat Halo Reach on Normal. The ending was pretty awesome. I want to beat it on other difficulties, but not by myself. I also want to jump into the multiplayer. ^_^

Halo Reach is by far the best game by Bungie yet, not to mention a good way to go out with a bang. I'm nearly done with it on Legendary, but man, it's just a pain. The Covenant really hit the planet hard (no pun intended). Idk why, but I let my Noble 6 be female. Looks real nice, for the record.

I use a female Spartan as well. It's a nice feature, but at the same time there's this whole level of immaturity about it, especially with Kat. If you ever take a look at recommended pictures from people's file shares, you'll see more of Kat's ass than you'll ever care to. Facepalm Seriously....some people scare me.

But, I finally sat down to play some multiplayer, and I enjoy Infection and Slayer Pro for game types, and I enjoy the maps for the most part. Sometimes Sword Base is irritating, though.

Halo Reach is starting to sour with me a bit. Mostly because I don't want to play SWAT all day every day.

Seriously, I don't understand why everyone loves SWAT so much. Compared to the SWAT of Halo 2 & 3, Reach's SWAT is really really boring. SWAT used to have grenades, and shotguns, and assault and sniper rifles. Reach's SWAT is just no shields and DMRs.

But what really gets me is that SWAT fundamentally changes how Halo is played. It turns it into Call of Duty lite, and I play Halo to be a Robot man in space armor.

I don't mind SWAT every now and then, but it always gets voted up over more interesting games like Headhunter and Oddball.

What game type are you playing? I have been playing Rumble Pit and never get SWAT. If you're playing team games, that explains it.

I would suggest trying Rumble Pit. Even though it's every man for himself, you get a lot more interesting game types, IMO. You'd probably like Infection, for example.

I mostly play multi-team, but since Crazy King is conspicuously absent from Halo Reach, I'll go ahead and give some of the other play lists a shot.

Seriously, Crazy King was awesome. Why isn't it in Reach?

We should play together more often, and then we could do custom game types. I also enjoy Crazy King.

But also, I've heard there's going to be an update in October, so maybe they will add new playlists. I hope they make Infection its own playlist, since I like that gametype. XD

The updates sound pretty good. I don't really like that they added the motion tracker to DMR games, but I guess they wanted to differentiate them from SWAT. And now I can play SWAT in its own playlist, so that's cool.

I think the maps that you get from the DLC are for the most part better than the maps that shipped with the game. I hope they are put into heavier rotation in the normal playlists pretty soon.

So, I finally bit the bullet and started digging into the campaign with a friend (via split-screen).

And so far, I like Firefight more. Part of the problem I'm having with the campaign is that any gravitas the story might have instantly evaporates when you stick two people who could care less about the Halo fiction in the same room.

But another issue I'm having is the same problem if I've had on all the other forays I've taken into the single-player portion of this series. This series is pretty bad about directing players towards objectives a lot of times. There were a lot of times that me and my friend were running around the area looking of for the next checkpoint (which, again, may be our fault because we did not pay any attention to what was going on in the cut scenes). And there are times when the events don't work. We stood at a gate for about five minutes waiting for it to open, walking up to it and backing up until it eventually triggered.

But the campaign let's me hunt space ostriches, and what other game lets you do that?

It's not a matter of needing help. It just takes us longer than I think it should sometimes to figure out what to do sometimes, though things have gotten a lot better as we have progressed.

We played more yesterday. So far, Mustache Guy and Kat have ate it. I can't help but feel that Kat's death was kind of bullshit, since Needle Rifles aren't that effective in game.

It took a while, but I've finally warmed up to the campaign. It's really fun when things are moving. Unfortunately, this makes the hold ups really glaring. Perhaps we don't like Halo enough, but when the game stonewalls our progress, we loose patience. We got to the part with the Scorpion and quit because we couldn't figure out how to get past the rain of fuel rods.

Ugh, that part is annoying. On Heroic I got past that part by inching the tank forward just the tiniest bit until I had a sight on the shade turrets. It takes longer for their shot to hit you than it takes your shot to hit them. Once you kill it, move the fuck out of the way. LOL

If you still have a DMR you can try to shoot the Grunts out of the seats and do it that way.

But yeah, the checkpoints in Reach suck hardcore.
