Thoughts on Ulquiorra Empty
PostSubject: Thoughts on Ulquiorra   Thoughts on Ulquiorra EmptyThu May 13, 2010 12:30 am

I'd like to think Ulquiorra is not gone.

Firstly, I think it's significant that Kubo titled the chapter "The Ash" rather than "The Dust." Really, if he was going for "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" he could have used either, or both. But he didn't. He kept it simply "The Ash."

What comes from ash? The phoenix.

Some info on the phoenix from Wikipedia.

The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — it is also said that it can heal a person with a tear from its eyes and make them temporarily immune to death.

Does this NOT fit Ulquiorra?? He regenerates. He has stripes under his eyes that could be construed as tears.

Secondly, what was it that Hacchi said to Orihime?

Here he says, "From just looking at your reiatsu, you should have powers very close to mine...but if that was the case, you would be able to return this to its original form...even without a shattered fragment." (Bold emphasis is mine).

And here, he mentions that "What's important is not 'how it should be' but rather 'how do you want it to be?'"

Additionally he mentioned that she hadn't mastered her full abilities yet.

Orihime is the only human nakama who hasn't really received a power-up yet. Bringing Ulquiorra back from ashes, simply because she wants it that way, could be her finally realizing her full abilities.

I don't think it's impossible for Ulquiorra to come back, but I'm also very strongly attached to him, and try to prevent high hopes from clouding my judgement on the matter. XD

as you said, there's plenty that could be seen as foreshadowing of his revival, and that keeps me reading, if nothing else.

Ulquiorra's an interesting character, and he can be read in a lot of different ways because he did behave cruelly, although without acive bloodlust and always curious about things he didn't understand. If Kubo wanted that end to be the conclusion of his character then such is his right, but I can't lie and say that I don't hope there's more to be seen, especially with his rivalry with Grimmjow, and his lack of experience with the powers of his second release

I still want to belive that we will come back because of his absolutly dumb end - first he talks chapters about his awesome regeneration-powers, then he get pwned in 2 panels - fail.

That he fell to ashes is pretty interesting and kept me thinking since the chapter came out that he'll come back.

Out of all the Espada Grimmjow & Ulquiorra get the most support - also from official site: be it figures, gumcards aso.

He deserves better and is an interesting character so I hope he'll come back somehow even though I doubt it will happen... I just don't have that much faith with Kubo TBH.

Personally I don't believe in his return, making me a minority among Ulquiorra fans. Death should not be cheapened even more in Bleach.

As much as I liked Ulquiorra, and I did he was my second favourite espada, I really don't want him to come back. I agree with Zura, death should be final and shouldn't be some cheap state that the characters can shake off.

And I don't really feel like there's a place left for him in the story. There's already far too many characters in Bleach fighting for screen time, if he was brought back then he'd just be another face among the crowd. I think it'd be worse for him to be brought back only to be ignored for tens of chapters at a time.
