The "super glomp"

One things that YoruSoi fans never seem to mention, or perhaps even notice, is that during the fan dubbed "Super Glomp", Yoruichi actually struck the first blow of the their fight. It's worth noting that the attack seemed either not to connect or, if it did, completely ineffective.

So, what so you all think was Yoruichi's motivation behind attacking Soifon, only to seeming do nothing?

first blow? do you mean the kido spell? i dont think the spell was aimed at soifon at all, but rather to soften the blow when they hit the ground (judging from their positions in their fall, maneuvering would have been impossible, or in the least difficult for them). surely after they hit the ground, they got separated from the blast. and their first blows - a kick - occuring at the same time can be considered as them starting off in equal grounds.

I don't think she was attacking Soifon either, the kidou looks more like it isn't intended to do anything other than soften their landing (plus look cool!). I don't think I have ever considered this as an attack as much as it was 1) stopping Soifon from killing Kiyone 2) removing Soifon from the situation so she could explain what was going on and 3) gain an ally. I think Yoruichi really expected Soifon to be happy to see her and take her side, given their history. I don't think Yoruichi expected an all-out fight.

I offtened wondered about that part either it be acctack or to softten the landing. It does seem more as a softten the landing cause when they are shown again I don't think either of them are hurt so..

The glomp was to prevent Soi from killing Kiyone - I also think that this bolt was directed to the ground to soften their fall.
They were falling down head on - not the best position to land after a fall from god-knows-how-many-meters - not even in a shounen ~
