Have any of you ever listened to a song that changes teh way you think about...wel anything?
For me, there are two songs that changed my perspectives on life. The first, and most impactful, was Blackstar's Theives in the Night. Admittedly, the hook was taken from the novel "The Bluest Eye," but it's just as profound here as there.
Not strong
Only aggressive
Not free
We only licensed
Not compassioniate, only polite
Not good but well behaved
Chasin after death so we can call ourselves brave?
Still livin like mental slaves
The other was Rush's The Trees. The final verse beutifuly the fallacy of equality.
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.
